Canvas Gallery Wall

A common interior design rule is the “2/3 Rule.” Your Gallery Wall should ideally span about two-thirds of the width of the furniture below it (like a sofa or a bed). If the layout is too small, it will look “lost” on the wall; if it’s too wide, it will overwhelm the room. We offer pre-designed templates ranging from 3 to 10+ panels to help you find the perfect balance for your wall dimensions.

For a professional, cohesive look, we recommend a consistent gap of 2cm to 5cm between each canvas. A tighter gap (2cm) creates a modern, unified “single-piece” feel, while a wider gap (5cm) allows each photo to breathe and stand out individually. Our digital proofs help you visualize these spacings before you drive a single nail into the wall.

The center point of your Gallery Wall should ideally sit at eye level, which is approximately 145cm to 150cm from the floor. If you are hanging it above a sofa, ensure the bottom edge of the lowest canvas is about 15cm to 25cm above the top of the sofa back. This ensures the art feels connected to your furniture rather than “floating” too high.

While you can mix them, a “Designer Look” usually requires a common thread. If you have a mix of color and monochrome images, we suggest using our free “Image Options” to apply a consistent filter to all of them, or ensuring they all share a similar color palette. This prevents the gallery from looking cluttered and turns it into a curated art collection.

Yes. When you order a CanvasJet Gallery Wall, we provide a Digital Layout Proof that shows the exact orientation and positioning of each piece. Because our canvases are lightweight and hand-stretched over kiln-dried pine, you can often use a “no-drill” installation method (like high-quality adhesive strips) for smaller layouts, making it easy to adjust the positioning as you go.

Buying a pre-designed set ensures mathematical precision. Our templates are engineered so that the edges align perfectly, and the proportions are balanced. If you buy individual canvases separately, you run the risk of mismatched depths or slightly off-set heights. A pre-designed gallery ensures all frames have the same 2cm kiln-dried profile for a seamless look.

One of the best features of a Gallery Wall is its scalability. While the initial set is a fixed design, you can always order individual canvases in matching depths later to expand your collection. Because we keep your color profiles and frame specs on record, your new pieces will match your original gallery perfectly, even years later.

For Gallery Walls, we almost always recommend a Mirror Wrap or a Solid White Border. Since the canvases are placed close together, an “Image Wrap” might cause important parts of your photo to disappear into the gaps between the frames. A Mirror Wrap ensures 100% of your subject is visible on the front while maintaining a clean, continuous look on the sides.

A Gallery Wall is typically made of multiple different photos (e.g., family portraits, travel shots, and landscapes). If you want one single photo cut into multiple pieces, that is called a Split Canvas (Triptych). Gallery Walls are designed to tell a story through a collection of different memories, whereas Split Canvases are designed for a single high-impact panoramic shot.

Because we use UV-resistant HP Latex Inks, maintenance is easy. You only need a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently dust the surface. We recommend a “light touch” to avoid shifting the canvases. If you’ve used adhesive strips, they will stay firmly in place; if you’ve used traditional hooks, a quick check with a spirit level once a month will keep your gallery looking sharp.
